It has been a few weeks now since Tropical cyclone Winston hit Fiji, but the after effects of the storm are still being felt here on the east coast of Australia. A lot of the beaches in the Ballina Byron area have been closed due to dangerous surf conditions, with only the bravest surfers taking on the waves.
For our Sunday walkabout this week, we decided to check out one of the iconic locations on the North Coast for big wave surfing – Lennox Point, NSW Australia.
Although the waves were not quite as big as earlier in the week, there were still some quality waves. Lennox Point is a quick 10 minute drive north of Ballina, providing some great views from the car park. The walking track runs north into the township of Lennox Head, or south towards Boulders Beach. The Point offers plenty of grass to sit and watch the surf, or you can use the track to descend down to the edge of the water for a great view of the action.
